Karl’s answer to Q4 “fifty great questions to ask songwriters”

4. Has your background inspired your songwriting at all? Maybe your hometown or your family?

This theme has a common place in country music and of course mountain music and folk songs. I have definitely written songs that feature scenes I’ve recollected from my childhood. Mostly, I draw from the experiences and twist and weave them to suit an emotion I’m intending to convey within the context of the song.

I would suggest that I haven’t yet written my “definitive” hometown or family song, but that point itself, is a good thing to look forward to. It will arrive one day…..when it’s ready!
